Why did Remiel's markings change?
Young foxes shed their softer juvenile fur while growing a denser adult coat. Seasonal shedding also changes the coat's length and thickness. On silver foxes, the growth of pale-tipped guard hairs can make the amount of silver—and the edges of pale markings—look different as the fox matures.
The underlying colour pattern does not simply move, but a new coat can make it appear lighter, darker, sharper, or more speckled.
A fox can pinpoint tiny movements with its hearing before pouncing.
